During the Ninth Mildred Scheel Cancer Conference held in May, 2019 in Bonn, biotechnologist Christin Richter was granted a poster prize for her study: “E2F1 impairs classical non-homologous end joining during bladder cancer progression”. The award honors a piece of research at IEGT in co-operation with scientists from University Medicine Essen. The investigations demonstrate, how a transcription factor compromizes the repair mechanisms of the genome in tumor cells in advanced cancer stages.
