Stella Logotheti hat einen Universitätsabschluss in Biologie, einen MSc in Systembiologie und einen PhD in der Molekularbiologie des Krebses. Sie verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung in der transkriptionellen Regulation protein-kodierender und nicht-kodierender Gene mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf dem Transkriptionsfaktor p73. Sie wendet systembiologische Methoden in Kombination mit Multiomics, experimenteller Validierung und funktionellen Assays an, um mechanistisch diejenigen Prozesse aufzuklären, die der Metastasenprogression zugrunde liegen. Gegenwärtig untersucht sie, wie Krebszellen entwicklungs- und/oder gewebespezifische Differenzierungsprogramme, darunter der Neuroentwicklung und Neurodifferenzierung, kooptieren, um selektive Vorteile zu erlangen, dabei das Mikroumfeld des Tumors zu modulieren und sich schließlich in aggressiver Weise weiter zu entwickeln. Sie interessiert sich auch für die Reprogrammierung somatischer Zellen durch Eingriffe in Transkriptionsnetzwerke zu Zwecken des Tissue-Engineering wie z.B. die biologische Schrittmacherfunktion.
